A Bestest Friend’s Celebration of Love

This past week in one of my bestest friends in SL had a wedding, well a Celebration of Love. It was a great event with friends, music, dancing and tears of joy. I think it was a beautiful event. I’ll post some pictures later on, I still need to get the photos to the happy couple, so it would be wrong to give you all a look before they got to see them

I had been to a few weddings in world, ones of people I knew and then ones of friends of friends.The one thing that made this one different for me personally is that my friend asked me to take some pictures, to which I said yes of course. I would have anyway, but now I had a mission and a shot list. I have photographed a few wedding in real life, well just enough to know that I don’t really want to do them for a living. Even with that experience, I thought “oh this would be a fun way to give back to them” and happily clicked away during the ceremony and the following reception.

As I was going through the photos, I started thinking about how photographing virtual weddings are in ways similar and also very different. So here’s a little list I made up…

At a real life wedding, you never have to worry if the couple and guests are fully rezzed in each shot
At a virtual wedding if you don’t like where the sun is in a shot you can move it, unless the couple have decided on a windlight setting
You can get amazing angles without ever leaving your seat or blocking any other persons view at a virtual wedding.
At either wedding, someone will dance into that amazing candid you were framing up.
The only crashes you have to worry about in a real life wedding is from drunk party guests.
The a fore mentioned drunk guest won’t be bumping your camera in a SL wedding.
Pose balls…might make RL wedding photography easier.
Forgetting to “/1 hide” the unused pose balls during the first dance
Two words that make RL wedding photography better…Motor drives!
and the thing that is absolutely the same in rl and virtual weddings… If you ask me to do shoot your wedding and I say yes… then you are someone special to me

Bunnys everywhere

Well Liz and I finished the Winter 2008 CSR last night. We had started back the first day of the event, but things like sleep and all the other hunts got in the way. Though after we finished the first time and got all our swag we decided to go and do it again so we could spread the love to a few of our friends.

As you can see our favorite giftie was the Bunny avatar from **DP** Yum Yum. It is just so cute I love that you can dress it up pretty easily especially if your stuff has resize scripts in it. You can see us here taking a break from our big lightsaber duel with the other citizens on Nevi. let me tell you something just because we’re small doesn’t mean we can’t hold our own.

I like to play with my look but I sometimes don’t feel comfortable in a new “skin” but I really like the bunny I think it will make appearances throughout the grid not just on silly attacks But I’m ready for those too. I remember seeing Zoe’s Girls with Guns group, so I was thinking alliteratively and came up with Bunnys with Bazookas

Sledding uphills

Ok I’ll admit it I have never been sledding. In fact I have never really experienced snow. There was the one time in NYC where it snowed the weekend I was there but it all melted into slush and frozen puddles by the middle of the day. I use to say growing up that the only time we saw snow was when one of those small low flying planes missed their drop zone, but hey that was back in the 80’s.

But when winter comes to Nevi, I love it. I pull out the coats and boots and get ready to go play. Well this year, my bestest friend in all of SL and in RL too, Liz Gealach, made a toboggan. It can hold 3people, well it has seats for 3, we’ve put more than that on it for a sled tour around the sim. Each of the seats have 3 static poses and two animated poses (all different), It’s loads of fun [ Ok I'll disclose that I made the animations and poses, but it really is a fun ride] You can buy the Toboggan at Thistle in Avendale, also at it’s satellite shops at Sway’s Village and at Sugar Mill Shops. There is a Sled-o-Matic in Avendale so you can take it on a 30 minute test ride.

Treasure Hunt

Usually I’m not one for treasure hunts, I mean I’ll do them but if I have other things on my list I’ll hunt for awhile and then go off and do something else and figure out what I found later. But the other day I saw on the NPiRL blog a post telling of the one year anniversary Metamorphoses Treasure Hunt at Firespire.

Collect all six gears and Nimbus Rau will give you this great Steampunk Kitty avatar. (You’ve got til midnight SLT on September 16th) The hunt really won’t take that long, I’ll admit I went back a couple of times because I was still looking for a gear. (Think I found the hard ones first then couldn’t find the easy ones hahah)

Underwater at Metamorphosis

I think it’s a great avatar, it makes me laff and that’s the most important thing right? I went ad had some fun with it, trying to catch the neighbour’s Pterodactyl. I never did, but I think it was a little nervous seeing a jet packing kitty. (I’ll so give you natural selection)

I thought I saw a Torley…

I did, I did see a Torley.

I was out with the group last night at Arc Space checking out Bryn Oh’s  take on Edward Gorey’s Gashleycrumb Tinies and her music boxes.

We were standing around talking and catching up when all of a sudden a bright glow appears and two people start moving around. I looked at the names on the radar going hmm those names look familiar, when he appeared in my camera and I went d’oh…. hahaha.

Torley Olmstead and Ravenelle Zugzwang were out and about last night, I had never seen Torley in person, I did go by his area when I first rezzed in SL  so I had to get a few snaps off. I’m not a star struck fan I think of it more like bird watching, a way to say yes I’ve seen that one
